Are white boots in style for 2026? It’s a resounding yes! These are the women’s white knee high, over the knee and ankle boots taking over this season.
White boots are one of those shoe trends that can instantly make an outfit feel fresher, and they’re still very much in style. From white knee-high boots and ankle boots to western and over-the-knee styles, there are so many ways to wear them beyond the obvious all-white winter outfit. I’ve owned and worn white boots in pretty much every length over the years, including ankle, knee-high and ivory over-the-knee styles. So this edit isn’t just about what’s trending. I’m sharing the best white boots to shop now, the styles that feel most current, how I actually wear mine and what I’ve learned about keeping them looking good.

Are white boots still in style in 2026?
Yes, white boots are still in style in 2026, especially knee-high styles. The trend has evolved though, with sleek knee-high boots and cream, ivory and softer off-white leather looking particularly current for Fall/Winter 2026.
I love white boots because they look fresh and brighten up a winter or spring outfit. They’re also a little different from your standard black boots but almost as easy to style. Whether you prefer knee-high, ankle, over-the-knee, cowboy, flat or stiletto styles, there’s a version of this trend for pretty much everyone.
I’ve had my white ankle boots for years and added a knee-high pair later. My knee-high boots run true to size and are surprisingly comfortable considering they have a stiletto heel. More recently, I added ivory over-the-knee boots, which have turned out to be much more versatile than I expected.
Whats better beige, cream or white knee high boots for women?
If you’re deciding between beige, cream and white knee-high boots, I’d choose based on what you’re wearing them with, your coloring and your personal style. Bright white gives you the most contrast and looks particularly good with black, denim and monochromatic white outfits. Cream and ivory are softer and work beautifully with the brown, camel, burgundy and other rich neutrals that come out every fall.
As much as I love beige boots and beige outfits on other people because they can look so luxe and elegant, beige tends to wash me out. It doesn’t seem to matter what shade it is or however much makeup I have on, I just look like one shade of blah from head to toe. I think a lot of my blondies can relate when trying to do a monochromatic beige look!
However, one way to get away with wearing neutral-colored boots if you don’t normally suit beige is simply not to wear the color head to toe or near your face. Your feet are far enough away, unless you’re doing some kind of contortion act, that you can get away with pretty much any neutral shade.
Should I get white ankle boots or white knee-high boots?
If I was buying just one pair right now, I’d go for white or ivory knee-high boots. They feel more current and work with everything from sweater dresses and mini skirts to skinny jeans, which are back in style this season, tucked into them.

However, there are definitely outfits where knee-high boots don’t look right and white ankle boots or booties work better. Under leather pants or wide-leg trousers, for example, knee-high boots can add unnecessary bulk underneath, and sometimes it’s simply too cold for pumps.
White boots might not always be as practical as black and they’re definitely more high maintenance when it comes to cleaning, but they look fresh, clean and bright. They’re also such a versatile wardrobe staple and look especially good with sweater dresses and jeans.

I learned the storage lesson the hard way. I once got my white ankle boots out for Fall/Winter and somehow they’d developed blue stains that wouldn’t come off. So if you’re storing white boots for summer, keep them protected in a box or tissue paper and away from dark colors that could potentially transfer onto them.
I’m also all about a monochromatic look for a coordinated, streamlined outfit. It helps me cheat some height too! I love styling white boots with a white sweater dress or jeans and a white bag, then adding a white coat when it gets colder.

Best women’s white boots for 2026
The best white boots range from sleek knee-high leather boots to ankle, western and over-the-knee styles. I’ve included both bright white and softer cream and ivory shades, as well as designer and more affordable options, so there’s something here whether you want a statement boot or a more wearable neutral.
I’m personally staying away from white patent boots. I find buttery-soft matte leather, suede and subtle textured finishes easier to keep looking chic and expensive. White is one of those colors where the finish can make a huge difference to how luxe or cheap a boot looks.
For the most current look, I’d lean toward clean, streamlined silhouettes, elegant knee-high boots, refined western styles and softer cream or ivory shades. If you’re investing rather than buying a trend piece for one season, I’d also avoid anything so exaggerated that you’ll struggle to wear it a year from now.

Best white knee high boots
White knee-high boots are the style I’d prioritize if you’re looking for a pair that feels especially current. They’re the perfect length to wear with jeans, sweater dresses, mini dresses and floaty spring dresses, so they’re not limited to Fall/Winter either.
For something classic and elegant, look for streamlined leather with a pointed or almond toe. If you want something more relaxed, white and ivory western boots are another easy way to wear the trend.

White knee-high cowboy boots seem to come back around every year and look especially cute with sweater dresses. Stiletto-heeled knee-high boots give a much sleeker, dressier look, while lower heels and flats make more sense if you want something comfortable for everyday wear.
I always look at heel height as well as shaft height when shopping tall boots. A gorgeous boot isn’t much use if the shaft hits your leg in the wrong place or the heel means you never actually wear it.
I’ve included everything from luxe designer boots to more affordable white knee-high boots below, including brands like Jimmy Choo and Paris Texas through to Steve Madden and Schutz.

Best white ankle boots and booties for women
White ankle boots are still worth owning even though knee-high boots are having the bigger fashion moment. They’re easier to wear underneath trousers and jeans and are one of my favorite ways to transition lighter dresses into fall.
White ankle boots are perfect for Fall and Spring. I love them with a floaty summer dress and a denim or leather jacket, where they look so much fresher and lighter than black.

Flat and chunky sole styles also work really well with leggings and jeans for Fall and Winter. I have a couple of pairs of chunky white ankle boots, one flat and one heeled, that are super affordable and comfortable.

High-heeled white ankle boots will always be a classic, but if you’re buying a pair you want to walk around in all day, a flat or lower block heel is obviously going to be more practical. For something you can keep wearing beyond one season, I’d choose a clean pointed-toe, western or streamlined ankle boot rather than buying something purely because it has an extreme trend detail.
Best white over-the-knee and thigh-high boots
I’ve always loved over-the-knee boots, and tall boots are firmly back in the fashion conversation, so there’s no reason to reserve this silhouette for black. White over-the-knee and thigh-high boots are definitely the statement option, but they can still look chic if you balance the rest of the outfit.
I love how sexy white over-the-knee boots can look, but with over-the-knee styles I’m always conscious of keeping the rest of the outfit more understated so they feel sophisticated rather than too Pretty Woman.
I recently added my first pair of ivory over-the-knee boots and they’re way more versatile and easy to style than I thought they’d be. I wear them with everything from sweater dresses and leggings to skinny jeans.
Ivory is also a great option if stark white feels like too much of a statement. It softens such a dramatic boot silhouette and works beautifully with other neutrals. For even more options, see my best over-the-knee and thigh-high boots edit.

What to wear with white boots for women
If you’re wondering how to style white boots and what to wear with them, white is pretty much as versatile as black, if not more so. White boots can often look better with summer dresses than black boots do, and depending on the style they can take you from casual outfits to work and nights out.
I tend to wear mine with sweater dresses, jeans and leggings the most. Being 5’2″, I particularly love monochromatic white and cream outfits because keeping the color palette streamlined helps me cheat some height rather than visually cutting up my body with lots of contrasting colors.
For fall, try white or ivory boots with denim, brown, camel, burgundy, black or other neutrals. In spring and summer, they can be teamed with floaty floral dresses, while in autumn they add a fresh touch to denim and workwear. When it gets colder, I love white knee-high boots with sweater dresses, jeans and a coordinating light-colored coat.
If you’re nervous about styling bright white, cream or ivory boots are an easy place to start because they blend more naturally into a neutral wardrobe.
White boots with a monochromatic outfit
A monochromatic outfit is still one of my favorite ways to style white boots. I’ll wear white boots with white jeans and a white top or sweater dress, add a white or cream bag and then layer on a coordinating coat when it gets colder. It’s not just about looking coordinated. Wearing similar colors from head to toe creates a longer visual line, which is why I use monochromatic dressing so much to make my 5’2″ frame look taller.

I also don’t believe in the old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day. I actually love white in Fall and Winter because it brightens up grey days and makes a change from all of the darker colors we tend to reach for once the temperature drops.

12 white boots outfit ideas
If you need more styling inspiration, here are 12 ways to style white boots from ankle boots to over-the-knee styles and across different seasons. Some of the easiest outfit formulas are a short sweater dress with knee-high boots, skinny jeans tucked into tall boots, wide-leg jeans or trousers over ankle boots, a knit co-ord with white boots, or a floaty dress with white ankle boots and a denim or leather jacket. You can also wear white boots under a midi or maxi dress with or without tights, with work dresses and suits, with denim-on-denim outfits or with leggings and a moto jacket. I’ve worn mine so many different ways that they’ve become much more of a wardrobe staple for me than I originally expected.
