Why I’m shopping Balmain Kids for my designer winter coat
Balmain Kids wasn’t the first place I thought to look for a womens designer winter coat but it came up during my search for a long, black belted, double breasted coat. It was love at first sight, I didn’t even realize it was in the Balmain kids girls collection until I clicked on it. I haven’t shopped from a kids designer clothes collection for over 2 decades when I first visited NYC and snapped up a DKNY kids top. This purchase was not about the sizing but how much money I’d save as it was also in the Balmain sale. So now I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of is it ok for adults to shop from Kids collections? Well, there’s lots of answers to that.

Is it ok to wear Kids clothes as an adult
In my opinion there’s a few things that make it OK or not OK top shop from Kids collections. One, make sure the clothing item or accessory is appropriate adult attire and not too child like. Secondly, don’t do it to brag that you can fit into kids clothes.

Shop kids designer clothes because it’s a savvy way to save money if the item is appropriate. I’ve also said there’s no such thing as dressing for your age but that comes with the caveat I’m talking about dressing as an adult. A lot of the clothes, especially the blazers and coats in Balmain kids girls collection are just as chic as in the women’s.

Why I’m shopping for my Balmain coat in Balmain Kids
Yes, there’s lots of items that are way too child like but there’s also lots of blazers and coats in the ‘Balmain Girls collection’ that are just as sophisticated as the adult collection at a fraction of the cost of the women’s Balmain coats.
I’m not ashamed to admit I’m always on the look out for the best price and sales. Part of my job as a Fashion Blogger is to find the best prices to share with you to save you the time searching.
Size wise, I find Balmain Kids Girls size Age 12 works for an adult 00-2 and Age 14 for a 2-4. Designer kids clothes tend to work well for petite adults as the overall dimensions tend to work better. I’m 5’2″ and even the sleeve length on this coat is perfect for me.
Obviously take that with a pinch of salt and read the size charts. I was worried Kids clothes wouldn’t fit because of my curves so started with age 14 is this Balmain coat style and ended up sizing down.

The Balmain black coat I’m wearing
The coat I’m wearing is the Balmain Kids Black Virgin Wool-mohair Blend Coat and it’s on sale! Because it’s outer material is Virgin Wool 80% and Mohair 20% it’s super warm and a little fuzzy.
