Self Portrait came onto my radar when sparkly bow dresses took off a few years ago. I also found myself wearing their beautiful lace midi dresses on more than one occasion. Although, they got harder to get hold of after Emily from in Emily in Paris wore this designer more than just once. From the orange lace Self-Portrait midi dress in season 2 to the yellow strapless dress in season 3. It’s one of those brands whose signature styles always seem to catch on for both their design and price point. Who and what is Self Portrait
Self-Portrait is a London based brand founded by Han Chong back in 2013. It’s a brand that’s close to my heart as he’s a graduate of Central Saint Martins which has a close relationship to the college I attended, Central School of Ballet. Every year we’d collaborate and put on a show in London wearing their designs.
Designed in London, made for the world – Self-Portrait believes in celebrating and empowering the women in the clothes. Femininity ensured by elegant functionality …The name Self-Portrait was born, to be a reflection of the women in the designs.

They’re known for their crystal bow dresses and lace sheath and fit and flare dresses. This brands aesthetic is ladylike but fashion forward, feminine and flattering and I can’t get enough of it.
Self-Portrait review
I’ve always found Self-Portrait dress sizing spot on and the quality and craftmanship so well done. If you’ve visited this site before you know my aesthetic and personal fashion preference is very feminine and glam. I’d always rather be over dressed than under dressed which is why I pretty much want everything in each and every one of their collections.
They don’t just do dresses but other clothing and the cutest bow embellished envelope bags I’m currently coveting.
