When is US Teacher Appreciation Week 2026?
US Teachers Appreciation week 2026 runs from Monday May 4th 2026 Friday May 8th 2026 in the USA with Teacher Appreciation Day 2026 falling on May 5th 2026. It’s held during the first full week of May every year. Although it’s inception was 1953, it didn’t become an official National holiday until 1980. In the beginning it was celebrated earlier in the year in March. However, in 1984 it was moved to the first full week of May (I’m not sure why).
Eleanor Roosevelt was actually the one to first convince Congress that we needed a dedicated period to thank teachers for their hard work. Teacher Appreciation Week began in 1953.
