Best LED Face Mask 2026: CurrentBody Series 2 vs The Competition

best led mask currentbody series 2

LED face masks have gained popularity over the years as they’re known for transforming your skin in just minutes a day but not all LED masks are created equal! I’ve reviewed lots of LED masks before and I know it can get overwhelming with new masks launching all the time. Each red light therapy mask boasts the best results, new designs, and the power to help boost collagen, improve skin density, diminish discoloration and smooth wrinkles for a younger-looking complexion. So what is the most effective LED mask and what’s the best LED face mask in 2026 for you? A few things to think about when choosing the right one for you is do you want red light only, how much red light coverage does the mask provide, and have the LEDs all been tested to make sure they’re giving you an even treatment.

I’ve been using LED masks since the original CurrentBody Series 1 and have had in-person education with CurrentBody directly, which means this comparison goes well beyond spec sheets and marketing claims. I bring professional beauty formulation training through my own cosmetics line, Dawes Custom Cosmetics, which informs how I analyze wavelength accuracy, LED placement and clinical data in every device I review. I’ve personally tested the CurrentBody Series 2 extensively as part of my regular skincare routine alongside other clinical-grade devices, and have researched each competing mask in depth so you don’t have to. LED mask showdown: What is the most effective LED face mask?

What truly makes the best LED light mask for your skincare routine? I compared the top-selling red light therapy masks on the market to look at:

  • Which red light therapy masks give the best LED light placement since this affects treatment effectiveness and coverage.
  • Which LED face masks give the most even and consistent coverage for the most uniform results for your skin.
  • The accuracy of your mask’s LEDs is crucial for achieving the best results, so who does it best?

Why does the placement and amount of LED’s matter in a red light therapy mask

For LEDs to work, they need to be placed evenly across the whole face as gaps can lead to missed areas and uneven results. A lot of red light therapy masks often miss having LEDs in key areas, too few LEDs or even too many LED lights. As too many LEDs can over stimulate and overheat your skin.

Best LED mask 2026 for even & consistent coverage | CurrentBody LED mask Series 2

One of the benefits of the Series 2 CurrentBody LED mask is that they’ve really thought about the LED coverage and output in their design. Their CurrentBody Series 1 wasn’t perfect, but their new Series 2 mask design now offers increased eye, nose, mouth and chin coverage and more LEDs evenly placed across the mask. Which means every area of your face receives the same power and wavelength for a more even treatment.

Series 2 CurrentBody LED face masks new design also has strategically placed deep near-infrared LED’s around the eyes which target the more prominent signs of aging. So, if you’re looking to treat the eye areas this is going to be amazing for that and is worth paying attention to when choosing the right brand for you.

The flexible fit also allows more light to reach your skin. I also like the flexible shape for being able to pack and travel with it easily.

Best LED light masks for red, blue and infrared LED therapy | Dr Dennis Gross, GloTech, Shark Cryoglow and TheraFace Mask Glo LED face mask

Dr Dennis Gross, Shark Cryoglow, LED Aesthetics GloTech and TheraFace Mask Glo LED face mask are 4 other really popular LED masks but when you look at Dr Dennis Gross and Shark’s design compared to Currentbody series 2 you’ll notice larger spaces in the mask, and areas with no LEDs at all. Which means there’s less light reaching those key areas especially around the eyes.

Shark Cryoglow pros and cons

Shark Cryoglow also has a rigid mask design which sits 2 cm away from your skin. As well as cooling pads under the eye which there are pros and cons to. The downside is that they can block light from key areas and cause pressure under your eyes. However, the benefits of the MedSpa-inspired under-eye cooling is that they can also help soothe and tighten under-eyes.

Other benefits of the Shark Cryoglow red light therapy mask include that it offers 4 different treatments including red, blue & infrared LED light therapy. If you have acne you might want to consider a mask that offers the blue light therapy, along with the red and infrared.

Dr Dennis Gross LED mask

The Dr Dennis Gross LED mask is another really popular LED face mask that also offers red, blue (which is great for treating acne), and infrared LEDs and is cordless but again is a rigid design and has gaps with no LEDS around the eyes and mouth. I personally like flexible silicone masks so that I can travel with them easily as they take up less space in my luggage and tend to be lighter.

GloTech LED mask

GloTech has that great flexible mask design, medical grade wavelengths of red, blue & near infrared light, but doesn’t come down under the chin. Although they do offer an LED neck collar to treat more area.

I really liked this mask when I was reviewing it. It’s a great mask if you’re looking for a more affordable option, or one that includes blue light therapy, and I found it comfortable to use. I just preferred CurrentBody when I switched to that for more coverage and the 3 wavelengths.

Omnilux LED face mask

Omnilux has that lovely flexible fit and a double strap for improved fit but doesn’t fit flush and doesn’t come down under your chin to give you LED coverage there. You can also see large spaces missing LEDs around the eyes and mouth which leaves areas unevenly treated. According to CurrentBody their LED lights are too widely spaced to be able to give even complete coverage.

TheraFace Mask Glo

If you’re looking for a LED face mask that does it all, TheraFace Mask Glo has a lot of fans and features 504 red, infrared and blue LED lights with a gentle scalp massage. It’s also clinically proven to reduce under-eye wrinkles and fine lines, enhance radiance, and lift sagging skin in as little as 8 weeks.

However, I found this very heavy, so I wouldn’t travel with this. I also found it really uncomfortable to wear. and it left deep lines all over my face every time I used it. Lastly, I couldn’t feel the massage feature doing anything, it was just a loud annoying buzzing noise which thankfully you can turn off.

What makes your LED mask effective | Why LED accuracy is important

Another factor that impacts your red light therapy masks efficacy is the masks LED’s accuracy. Ok, let me get technical for a bit. Some brands claim their LEDs are accurate within +2nm but when tested the masks show big variations in wavelength output. This means some areas of the face receive better or worse treatment than others which can create inconsistent results.

The only way to guarantee effectiveness is to test every single LED bulb which CurrentBody does as they own their production and testing facilities. You can even check your masks results yourself by scanning the Veritace card your mask comes with.

For me the most important differences are the consistent and even LED coverage and increased eye and chin coverage as my eyes are my main area of concern when it comes to aging and most of us want to have a tighter more youthful jawline.

Best LED mask FAQ’s

What is the best LED face mask for anti-aging in 2026?

CurrentBody Series 2 LED mask wins for me because of it’s triple wavelength, deep near-infrared, even LED coverage, and the fact that every bulb in every mask is tested.

Is CurrentBody better than Omnilux?

Omnilux LED mask looks more like CurrentBody Series 1 in shape. It has that lovely flexible fit and a double strap for improved fit but doesn’t come down under your chin to give you LED coverage there. It also only has 2 wavelengths: red and near-infrared, it doesn’t offer the deep near-infrared that CurrentBody does.

Is a flexible or rigid LED mask better?

I personally prefer flexible silicone masks as they sit closer to your skin for better light penetration vs rigid masks that sit further away. They’re also easier and lighter to fold and travel with. Having also tried TheraFace Mask which is rigid, I find the silicone masks much more comfortable and they don’t leave lines on my face like the rigid ones do.

How many LEDs does a face mask need to be effective?

There is no single perfect LED count, the number of LEDs is relative to their power and more isn’t always more. It’s also not just the number of bulbs, but the density, placement and the nm of the LEDs that are important too. Effective, FDA-cleared masks use a combination of, 633nm (red) and 830nm (near-infrared) for efficacy. The most important thing is even coverage/uniformity and their wavelengths. Which is why CurrentBody’s 236 LEDs with verified accuracy matters more than raw count. You can check those for all of the LED masks mentioned in the images above.

Do I need blue light therapy in my LED mask?

This depends on your skin concerns. If breakouts and acne are a concern then a multi light LED light therapy mask with blue light might be better for you. If you’re purely looking for anti-aging benefits, red, near-infrared, and deep near-infrared are sufficient.

Is the CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2 worth the price?

If blue light therapy is important to you, CurrentBody has a LED Multi Light Therapy Mask which is a FDA cleared multi-light LED mask with 6 clinically proven LED wavelengths. Use discount code GLAMOURCB when shopping from CurrentBody.

Solawave is a newer contender with their 4 Non-Invasive Light Therapies mask (medical-grade Red Light Therapy, Infrared, Deep Red, and Amber Light each to reach different layers of the skin for maximum results).

The best mask is for you will all come down to your skin concerns and how deep your pockets are. However, I do highly recommend always getting both the face and neck and décolleté LED masks, as our necks and chest show signs of aging just as much and often get forgotten about.
