singapore outfit ideas what wear

Singapore is one of those cities that genuinely requires a little outfit planning. In a single day you can go from an air conditioned dome at Gardens by the Bay to a rooftop bar at Marina Bay Sands to a street food tour through Chinatown, and the dress code shifts dramatically between each. And let’s not forget about the humidity! Here’s all of my Singapore outfits and exactly what I wore at every stop so you can pack smarter for your Singapore trip.

Singapore Outfit Ideas: What to Know Before You Pack

Singapore is hot and humid year round, sitting around 30 -32 degrees Celsius with high humidity. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are essential. That said, many indoor attractions, hotels and restaurants are heavily air conditioned so a light layer is always useful. Some religious sites and smarter venues have dress codes, so it’s worth keeping that in mind when planning your outfits.

What to Wear to a Singapore Street Food Tour

For our private foodie tour through Singapore’s hawker centres and local neighborhoods I wore a cream linen maxi skirt set. The key for a street food tour is comfort and practicality. You’ll be walking, eating, and navigating busy market areas so flat shoes are essential. Light fabrics that breathe well in the heat are your best friend here.

I wanted to visit the Buddha temple afterwards which is why I wore a long skirt. They provide the shoulder coverup at no charge.

What to Wear Walking Around : Singapore Outfit Ideas

Planning your Singapore outfits for the day (and night) starts with one non-negotiable: the heat and humidity are relentless, so lightweight, breathable fabrics like linen, cotton and bamboo are everything. Whether you are exploring Chinatown, wandering through Gardens by the Bay, around the Marina or shopping on Orchard Road, the key is looking polished without overheating.

A linen co-ord or a cotton sundress with flat sandals strikes the perfect balance between comfort and style for long days on foot, while a lightweight button-down shirt tucked into tailored shorts works just as well for a more put-together look. Neutral tones and soft pastels photograph beautifully against Singapore’s colorful street art and architecture, making them a smart choice if you want outfits that translate well in photos.

Comfortable sandals or supportive sneakers are essential for long walking days, and a lightweight layer is always worth throwing in your bag for aggressively air conditioned malls and attractions.

What to Wear to Gardens by the Bay Singapore

Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore’s most photographed locations and it delivers on every level. It’s also a really welcome escape from the heat but not the crowds. We visited the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, for this I wore a long sleeve satin top, with matching top and matching shorts set. The domes are cooled to around 23 degrees so something with long sleeves or a light layer works well if you feel the cold indoors.

Singapore Outfit Idea For The Evening: What to Wear to Ce La Vie Singapore

Ce La Vie at Marina Bay Sands is one of the best sunset spots in Singapore and the dress code leans smart casual to dressy. For our sunset drinks I wore a chic polka dot maxi dress. Smart sandals or heels work well here as the floor is level, and the backdrop of the Singapore skyline means your photos will thank you for making the effort.

What to Wear to Lavo Singapore

We went for dinner at Lavo at Marina Bay Sands straight after Ce La Vie and since this calls for something a little more dressed up, I wore something dressier for the whole night. The polka dot dress worked well for both. The vibe is upscale Italian with incredible views so this is your chance to bring out something more polished.

What to Wear to Raffles Singapore: Dinner & Cocktails

Dinner at Raffles Courtyard followed by drinks at the famous Long Bar is a Singapore institution. The setting is iconic, colonial and beautifully preserved, so the outfit needs to match. You can obviously wear something a lot more casual than we did, I just love an excuse to dress up. Raffles Courtyard doesn’t have a dress code but “The atmosphere at Raffles Courtyard is tropical, alfresco, and sophisticated, offering a more relaxed and breezy. Whereas Raffles dress code for the The Long Bar recommends “Smart casual attire is recommended to ensure you have seamless access to the entire hotel”.

I wore this blue satin gown to both The Long Bar and Raffles Courtyard and it honestly felt amazing on, and to me that’s what outfit choices and fashion is all about. I styled it with wedges as we walked from the JW Marriott and a cream clutch to coordinate with the shoes. I kept the jewelry simple since the dress did all of the heavy lifting. A lot of people were in shorts and tank tops but this magazine is called ‘Glamour’ and Gains for a reason. I’d always rather be overdressed than underdressed.

What to Wear to Sentosa Island Singapore

Sentosa Island via cable car is a more relaxed, outdoor experience. I wore a white vest top with tailored white shorts and lightweight, washable sneakers to be comfortable and as cool as possible. Something comfortable and casual works perfectly here since you’ll be outside and on the move.

What to Wear to the JW Marriott Singapore Pool

The rooftop pool at the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach has panoramic views over the skyline so it’s worth putting a little thought into your pool look. I wore a blue Zimmermann swimsuit with gold hardware, a matching blue coverup, coordinating gold leather sandals, with oversized sunglasses for more sun protection.

What to Pack For Singapore: Packing Tips

What I’d pack after spending four days in Singapore and what I’d skip:

Bring a small non-branded crossbody bag or shoulder bag for street food tours and walking days. Singapore is extremely safe but a hands free bag makes navigating markets much easier.

What shoes to wear in Singapore: I wore comfortable sandals that could handle both walking and a smarter evening setting. Block heels and wedges for the evening. You can pack just one but this was part of a 3 week trip so I wanted options. If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking, pack sneakers too. I flew in mine.

White and light colours photograph beautifully against Singapore’s green and glass architecture but be aware of the humidity and if you’re prone to any wardrobe mishaps pack Tide stain remover wipes.

Always carry a light layer for the heavily air conditioned indoor attractions. I bought a coverup scarf at a local boutique I could roll up and keep in my bag.

Don’t forget mosquito repellant, bug spray, and a hat if you tend to burn on your face or head.

The hotel had hairdryers but I packed my Dyson as it’s so much quicker and I have a ton of curly hair. However, because it was so humid I only used it twice in 3 weeks so skip packing yours if your hair’s anything like mine.
