Inside Prague’s Beer Wine Spa: The most unique spa experience
Beer and wine spas were completely new to me but after experiencing them in Prague, consider me a convert. If you’re visiting Prague and looking for something a little different to add to your itinerary, the Beer and Wine Spa experience at Lázně Pramen Spa Center is a must. We tried the wine spa as a couple and it turned out to be one of the most unique and relaxing experiences of our trip. From soaking in a warm, bubbling wine bath to sipping wine as you unwind, this cosy spa experience is perfect for individuals wanting to escape, couples looking for something romantic, or groups after a memorable, indulgent alternative to a traditional spa day.
What to expect at the beer and wine spa Prague
Don’t be put off by the exterior which, let’s be honest, doesn’t immediately scream luxury spa. I was a little unsure when we first arrived, but once inside it felt like being transported back in time. We’d booked a private room, while groups can reserve larger rooms with multiple tubs (they can accommodate up to 12 people at once). I can easily imagine this being a fun and unique addition to a bachelorette/hen or bachelor/stag weekend.
The booking just said wine and fruits so we were impressed when waiting inside our room by the bath was a bottle of white wine, cheese and grapes. Along with fluffy towels, crisp white sheets, cosy slippers, shower gel and hair dryers. They really have thought of everything. The team added their special blend of red wine extracts from vine leaves and grape seeds, wine yeasts, honey, herbal extracts, French lavender flowers and fragrant oils to the larch-wood tub, then left us to relax. There’s a call button by the bath if you need anything, otherwise the bubbles are switched on and off remotely for you.
Benefits of their beer and wine baths
The blend added to the water is said to have restorative and rejuvenating benefits, supporting relaxation, restoring vitality and improving blood circulation in the tissues. I’d recommend wearing a dark swimsuit, or going without, as the rich red color of the water may stain lighter swimwear.
Prague beer and wine spa review
It was one of the most relaxing experiences of our trip. The underground, cave-like brick rooms, larch tubs and stained-glass windows made it feel as though we’d stepped back in time. We visited in the middle of winter, and soaking in the 38°C bubbling water while sipping Czech wine felt incredibly cosy. I wasn’t familiar with Czech wine before our trip to Prague but was pleasantly surprised by all of the ones I tried and this white was a winner. My husband doesn’t like white wine, so more for me! I expected to leave ready for a nap, but instead I felt refreshed and energized.
We were advised not to shower straight afterwards so the blend could remain on the skin and continue working for longer. After your bath, you can also relax on straw beds and finish your bottle of wine or beer, if you haven’t already. We personally skipped this part, as it didn’t look especially comfortable, but it did make for a charming photo moment.
The Prague beer and wine spa is definitely an experience I’d recommend if you have an hour or two to spare and are looking for something relaxing away from the busy tourist attractions. Honestly, I think we need one in Vegas, I’d be there all winter.
