What colors are in the Downton Abbey Butter London nail polish set
I’m actually headed to Highclere Castle AKA Downton Abbey this July and will definitely be wearing the pastels in this set there. I normally wear gels as nail polish always seems to chip so fast on me. Since I’m going to Europe for a month (follow my travels on Instagram) and don’t trust anyone but my girl with my gels I’m taking these Butter London nail polishes with me. So that I can do my own manicures and no worry about them growing out.
I already gave the Butter London nail polish a test run to make sure they’d last longer than a day. So far so good. They do have a really nice shine to them even without their UV high shine top coat which I just ordered.
One of the things I like about the Downton Abbey Butter London nail polish set is that it has both neutrals and bolder colors. I’m normally more of a neutral girl. However I also like to coordinate looks and to be able to change my mind. The beauty of polish over gels is that I can change the color everyday if I like while sat in my parents English country garden.
What’s in the Downton Abbey Butter London Nail Polish Set
The Butter London nail polish set inspired by Downton Abbey movie 2 (A New Era) contains 6 mini patent shine 10 lacquers:
- Mink Grey a warm gray.
- English Lavender a pretty pastel lavendar.
- Piece of Cake a soft pretty pastel pink for French Riviera chic.
- Waterloo Blue the prettiest cornflower blue. Blue is a big color trend for 2022.
- Empire Red a rich red with hints of gold.
- High Street Crème a stunning champagne with gold undertones.
The red and pink shades are inspired by the nail trends of the 1930’s in which the new Downton Abbey movie is set.

The Downton Abbey Butter London nail polish set is actually a really good deal. As the mini nail polishes are $12 each versus the set which is $39. Meaning a saving of $33 if you were going to buy all of the minis individually.
How to apply Butter London patent shine nail polish
For the best results they say to start with the Butter London Horse Power Nail Rescue base coat which helps to strengthen and restore weak nails. Then to apply one coat of the nail lacquer color you want and let it dry. Once dried, apply a second coat. I found 2 coats gave plenty of coverage.
For longer wear finish with Butter London Hardwear Shine UV Topcoat after the 2nd coat of colored polish has dried. The topcoat has added UV protection that helps prevent fading (not sure how much I’ll need that in England) but the chip resistant part I definitely need. If you order the top coat and base coat together it saves $9.

As you know this is a cruelty-free blog so I’m picky about what I use and what I share and Butter London is cruelty-free and 10 free (details below). I had the honor of watching the pre screening of Downton Abbey movie 2: A New Era which is now out in theatres. If you were a fan of the series, you’ll love the 2nd movie. I was worried it was getting tired but the new movie brought it back to life. It’s hard to beat Maggie Smith’s dry humor and the beautiful locations in both England and France.
