Periwinkle blue was the Pantone Color Of Year back in 2022 and it’s making a come back as one of the stunning color trends for 2025. This years color trends are full of pastels so keep your periwinkle blue dresses on rotation or snap up a new blue dress or accessory. Did you know that every year Pantone chooses a color of the year and for 2022, ‘Very Peri’ Pantone 17-3938 was it, Viva Magenta in 2023, Peach Fuzz in 2024 and Mocha Mousse in 2025. Here’s how to wear this color now.

In the real world, pretty much any cool tones of lighter blue-violet pastel tone are cropping up everywhere especially periwinkle dresses. I hadn’t appreciated how much Very Peri color clothes I own until I can to write this.
My love of periwinkle blue started a while back with my dresses and wardrobe and then went onto painting my nails periwinkle blue. They actually turned out more sky blue but I still loved them. There’s a darker Waterloo Blue in the Butter London Downton Abbey nail polish set that’s super pretty and that goes with all of the bold and Inky blues around this year.
That’s where I’m leaving it but others are coloring their hair and homes in this pretty shade of blue.
Runway inspired color trends
Very Peri was on Chet Lo, Lanvin and Xüly Bet Spring 2022 runways to name a few but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Because Pantone didn’t choose their color of the year from their existing colors, they created Very Peri. So designers and brands hadn’t really had a chance to create that exact shade at the time. However, it’s much easier to get hold of now that it’s been around for a while.
Periwinkle from pastel to darker shades are super pretty shades for both men and women. Whether that’s a periwinkle dress, sweater or sneakers.
How to wear periwinkle blue this year
Just turn to social media to get some styling inspiration. There’s definitely some liberty and freedom to the exact shade of violet-blue and pretty much every shade is in this year from cobalt to pastel. However some of the most on trend ways to wear it are as a silk cami with jeans or a pretty periwinkle satin slip dress.

I’m personally wearing blues in either lighter cool hues or bright royal blues since they suit me better. You really can’t go wrong with anything from cornflower to periwinkle to very peri to wear this color, especially if you suit cooler tones.
