The Dior Lady D-Joy bag had been on my wish list for a while, so I decided to rent the Micro Lady D-Joy from JoinSwitch before committing to buying one. I carried it for five weeks, including while traveling, and out of all of the designer bags I’ve rented, this was the one I least wanted to return. I already own a Lady Dior and had previously owned the Micro Lady Dior, so I was especially interested to see how the Lady D-Joy compared. Despite its tiny size, I found the Micro Lady D-Joy considerably more practical than the Micro Lady Dior. I could fit my phone, credit cards and ID, lipstick and powder compact inside, which was pretty much everything I needed for both sightseeing during the day and going out at night.

Dior Lady D-Joy bag review
What I loved most about the Dior Lady D-Joy was how versatile it was. It has all of the instantly recognizable Lady Dior details, including the Cannage stitching and D.I.O.R. charms, but the elongated horizontal shape gives it a slightly more contemporary feel. I also found the Micro Lady D-Joy considerably more practical than the Micro Lady Dior I’d previously owned.
This shade of pink was perfection for someone who loves pink as much as I do. Pink is pretty much a neutral at this point for me! The pink Dior Lady D-Joy bag I carried was crafted in lambskin with gold-finish D.I.O.R. charms, but Dior also creates the Lady D-Joy in different materials, colors and finishes.

The removable straps are one of my favorite features. You can wear the Lady D-Joy as an elegant top-handle bag or add one or both straps depending on how you want to carry it. I also really liked that the chain strap has a leather section where it sits on your shoulder, so the chain doesn’t dig in. When I was sightseeing and walking around cities, I’d normally use the longer leather strap to wear it crossbody, then remove the straps when I wanted it to look more elegant for evening.
Another difference I noticed compared with the Lady Dior is the closure. I like the older zipper style on the Lady Dior bag, but the flap and magnetic fastening on the Lady D-Joy is definitely more convenient when you’re actually using the bag throughout the day.

The size was probably my biggest surprise. Having previously owned the Micro Lady Dior, which I found really impractical, I wasn’t expecting the Micro Lady D-Joy to work as well as it did. I could fit my phone, credit cards and ID, lipstick and powder compact inside, which was pretty much everything I needed for both sightseeing during the day and going out at night.
After carrying it for five weeks, I understood why I’d been drawn to it for so long. It’s elegant enough for evening but doesn’t feel too formal for daytime, and I found myself reaching for it with everything from casual sightseeing outfits to dresses. Out of all of the designer bags I’ve rented, this was the one I least wanted to return.
History of Christian Dior Lady D-Joy
The Lady Dior bag as been popular ever since it skyrocketed to fame 1995 when it was gifted to Princess Diana by France’s First Lady. The Dior Lady D-Joy bag is a modern reinterpretation of this bag with a sleek, elongated silhouette that’s right on trend this year with East Meets West bags been a massive trend. It still features Dior’s signature Cannage stitching and luxurious materials, this leather and matching suede lining is perfection, but with a contemporary shape.
Dior Lady D Joy bag sizes
The Dior Lady D-Joy currently comes in four main sizes: Micro, Mini, Small and Medium. The one I carried for five weeks was the Micro Lady D-Joy, and after previously having the Micro Lady Dior bag, which I found so impractical, I was surprised by how much I could actually fit inside the D-Joy.
- Dimensions: 16 x 9 x 5 cm / 6.5 x 3.5 x 2 inches (Length x Height x Width).
- The size is suitable for a phone, a card holder and lipstick.
- Strap length: 92 – 108 cm / 36 – 42.5 inches.

- Top handle drop length: 5.5 cm / 2 inches.
- Main composition: lambskin
- Goatskin and lambskin lining

Dior Lady D-Joy bag sizes:
- Micro: 16 × 9 × 5 cm / 6.5 × 3.5 × 2 inches (Length x Height x Width)
- Mini: 19 × 10.5 × 5.5 cm / 7.5 × 4 × 2 inches (Length x Height x Width)
- Small: 22 x 11 x 6 cm / 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches (Length x Height x Width)
- Medium: 26 x 13.5 x 5 cm / 10.5 x 5.5 x 2 inches (Length x Height x Width)

The Small D-Joy gives you 2″ more width and is 1″ taller if you want something just a bit bigger. The Medium size is ideal if you want something for everyday e.g. to be able to fit your sunglasses case and full size wallet in etc. However, the micro Lady D Joy handbag was perfect for throwing in my phone, credit cards and ID, lipstick and powder compact and not taking up much room in my luggage.
Lady Dior vs Lady D-Joy: What’s the difference?
If you’re deciding between the Lady Dior vs Lady D-Joy, the biggest difference is the shape. The Lady Dior has the iconic structured, upright silhouette, while the Lady D-Joy reinterprets that same design in a longer, horizontal shape. Both have the recognizable Cannage stitching and D.I.O.R. charms, but they feel surprisingly different to carry.
Having used both, I find the Lady D-Joy more versatile for the way I dress and travel. I love my Lady Dior, but the elongated shape of the D-Joy feels a little more relaxed and contemporary, and I found the Micro Lady D-Joy considerably more practical than my Micro Lady Dior. Despite being tiny, I could fit my phone, credit cards and ID, lipstick and powder compact inside it.
The Lady D-Joy also gives you plenty of styling options. My Micro came with a removable chain strap and an adjustable leather strap, so I could carry it by the top handles, on my shoulder or crossbody. I tended to use the longer leather strap when I was walking around cities during the day and remove the straps when I wanted it to look more elegant for evening.
If you want the most recognizable, traditional Dior silhouette, I’d look at the Lady Dior. If you prefer a horizontal bag, want something that transitions easily from day to evening, or you’re specifically comparing the micro versions for practicality, I found the Lady D-Joy easier to use.
Lady D-Joy Lady Dior Shape Horizontal, elongated Upright, structured Signature details Cannage + D.I.O.R. charms Cannage + D.I.O.R. charms Overall feel More contemporary and relaxed More classic and iconic My experience Micro was surprisingly practical Micro felt less practical Best for Day-to-night versatility, horizontal-bag lovers Classic Lady Dior silhouette
Dior Lady D Joy price
The Dior Lady D-Joy is firmly in luxury investment-bag territory. Current U.S. pricing varies by size, material and embellishment, with classic styles starting at around $3,600 for the Micro and increasing through the Mini, Small and Medium sizes. Limited-edition, embroidered and embellished versions can cost considerably more.
If you’re trying to save, the pre-owned market is also worth checking, especially if you’re looking for a discontinued color or finish. Prices vary significantly depending on the size, condition, material and rarity, so I always compare the current Dior retail price before buying pre-owned.
